ReInstall MikroTik Routerboard / Install Ulang Routerboard MikroTik

In this article I will share for the users especially Routerboard MikroTik. Initially I had a problem as follows:

When I tried RB433AH OS upgrade from version 3.x to version 4.x, after a reboot should be updated to the mikrotik website, but I forgot to do that, and the results in 72 hours is not updated, the RB Mikrotik unusable because it has expired OS. After consultation with the people of Mikrotik, they suggested to reinstall the OS. Finally I tried to reinstall his operating system (although’ve forgotten how), after the trial and error it worked.

Pada tulisan kali ini saya mau share buat para pengguna MikroTik khususnya Routerboard. Awalnya saya punya masalah sbb :

saat itu saya coba RB433AH upgrade OS dari versi 3.x ke versi 4.x , seharusnya setelah reboot harus di update ke web mikrotiknya, namun saya lupa untuk melakukan itu, dan hasilnya dalam 72 jam tidak di update, radio Mikrotiknya tidak bisa digunakan lagi karena OS nya sudah expired. Setelah konsultasi dengan orang Mikrotiknya, mereka menyarankan untuk install ulang OS nya. Akhirnya saya coba untuk install ulang OS nya (walaupun sudah lupa caranya), setelah di coba-coba ternyata berhasil.

Here’s how to reinstall MikroTik Routerboard :

Berikut ini cara install ulang MikroTik pada Routerboard :

1. Prepare the following Tools:

1. Siapkan Tools sbb :

  • PC / Laptop with Ethernet Card =PC / Laptop dengan Ethernet card
  • UTP Cable Straight (2 pieces) = Kabel UTP Straight (2 buah)
  • Software All Package MikroTik match your Routerboard version (can be downloaded here) = Software All Package MikroTik sesuai versi Routerboard anda (bisa di download di sini)
  • Net Install Applications (can be downloaded here) = Aplikasi Net Install (bisa di download di sini)
  • Winbox Applications (can be downloaded here) = Aplikasi Winbox (bisa di download di sini)
  • HyperTerminal Applications (on windows) or PuTTY SSH Client (on ubuntu) = Aplikasi Hyperterminal (pada windows) atau PuTTy SSH Client (pada ubuntu)
  • Serial Console Cable DB9 (female to female) or you can make your own with the following sequence : = Kabel Serial Console DB9 (female to female) atau anda bisa membuatnya sendiri dengan urutan sbb :
Router Side (DB9f) Signal Direction Side (DB9f)
1, 6 CD, DSR IN 4
2 RxD IN 3
3 TxD OUT 2
4 DTR OUT 1, 6
5 GND 5
7 RTS OUT 8
8 CTS IN 7

2. Connect the DB9 Serial Console side 1 to the serial port PC / Laptop and side 2 to the serial port your Routerboard.

2. Sambungkan kabel Serial Console DB9 sisi 1 ke port serial PC/Laptop anda dan sisi 2 ke port serial Routerboard anda.

3. Connect Straight UTP cable to your radio (1 radio to PoE and 1 PoE to your PC / Laptop). Or if not using PoE, you can directly connect the power supply cable to the Routerboard and UTP cable connected directly from ether1 to PC / Laptop you.

3. Sambungkan kabel UTP Straight anda ke radio (1 dari radio ke PoE dan 1 lagi dari PoE ke PC/Laptop anda). Atau jika tidak menggunakan PoE anda bisa langsung sambungkan kabel power supply ke routerboard dan kabel UTP langsung terkoneksi dari ether1 ke PC/Laptop anda.

4. Activate your netinstall application

4. Aktifkan aplikasi NetInstall anda

5. Select the ‘Net Booting’ and check ‘Enable Boot Server’ and enter ip address (use a single IP address in IP network with a PC / Laptop you are) examples of 172.16.0.5 and the PC / Laptop you 172.16.0.2 (you should not use the IP 172.16. 0.1).

5. Pilih ‘Net Booting’ kemudian centang ‘Boot Server Enable’ dan isikan ip address (gunakan ip address yang satu network dengan IP PC/Laptop anda) contoh 172.16.0.5 dan pada PC/Laptop anda 172.16.0.2 (sebaiknya jangan menggunakan IP 172.16.0.1).

6. Then we switch the HyperTerminal application to 115,200 baud rate

6. Kemudian kita aktifkan Aplikasi Hyperterminal dengan baud rate 115200

7. When you are able to enter the MikroTik system with serial console, is now setting RB to boot from ethernet with BIOS settings through his Routerboard (boot time press any key) then the display appears as follows:

7. Bila sudah bisa masuk ke system mikrotik dengan serial console, sekarang setting RB agar booting melalui ethernet dengan setting melalui Routerboard BIOS nya (saat booting press any key) maka akan muncul tampilan sbb :

RouterBOARD 230 (CPU revision B1)
CPU frequency: 266 MHz
  Memory size:  64 MB

Press any key within 1 second to enter setup.

8. after ‘press any key’ then the display will appear like this :

8. setelah ‘press any key’ maka akan muncul tampilan seperti ini :

   k - boot key

   o - boot device
   b - beep on boot
   v - vga to serial
   t - ata translation
   p - memory settings
   m - memory test
   u - cpu mode

   g - bios upgrade through serial port
   c - bios license information
   x - exit setup
your choice: o - boot device

9. Then you press the ‘o’ key it will appear like this:

9. Lalu anda tekan tombol ‘o’ maka akan muncul seperti ini :

Select boot device:
 * i - IDE
   e - Etherboot
   1 - Etherboot (timeout 15s), IDE
   2 - Etherboot (timeout  1m), IDE
   3 - Etherboot (timeout  5m), IDE
   4 - Etherboot (timeout 30m), IDE
   5 - IDE, try Etherboot first on next boot (15s)
   6 - IDE, try Etherboot first on next boot (1m)
   7 - IDE, try Etherboot first on next boot (5m)
   8 - IDE, try Etherboot first on next boot (30m)
your choice: e - Etherboot

10. Then you press the ‘e’ key to select the boot with the ethernet

10. Lalu anda tekan tombol ‘e’ untuk memilih booting dengan ethernet

11. Then press the ‘x’ to exit and reboot

11. Kemudian tekan tombol ‘x’ untuk exit dan booting ulang

12. As with Ethernet booting successfully, then the application will appear netinstall drives that will be installed (usually will appear with the name ‘nstream‘ or if the Mikrotik is already installed will display drives ‘Mikrotik’ like this:

12. Saat booting dengan Ethernet berhasil, maka pada Aplikasi NetInstall akan muncul drives yang akan di install (biasanya akan muncul dengan nama ‘nstream‘ atau apabila sudah terinstall mikrotik maka akan muncul drives ‘mikrotik’ seperti gambar berikut ini :

13. Select the drive that will be installed (in this case, select drive ‘nstream‘ or ‘Mikrotik‘ package and then navigate to the folder where you save the file package mikrotik), after which the bottom of the column will appear the packages will be installed (select the package What would you install by checking the package)

13. Pilih drive yang akan di install (dalam kasus ini pilih drive ‘nstream’ atau ‘mikrotik’ lalu arahkan package ke folder tempat anda menyimpan file package mikrotiknya), setelah itu di kolom paling bawah akan muncul paket-paket yang akan di install (pilih paket apa saja yang akan anda install dengan mencentang paketnya)

14. After that press the ‘Install‘. Wait until the installation process is complete and reboot Routerboard.

14. Setelah itu tekan tombol ‘Install’ . Tunggu sampai proses instalasi selesai dan reboot routerboard.

15. When finished, you Routerboard connect to the internet for the RB firware upgrade by logging into the new terminal and type ‘/ system upgrade Routerboard

15. Setelah selesai, koneksikan routerboard anda ke internet untuk upgrade firware RB nya dengan masuk ke new terminal lalu ketik ‘/system routerboard upgrade’

16. Your Mikrotik Routerboard Can Use It Back.

16. Routerboard Mikrotik Anda Sudah Bisa Digunakan Kembali.

  3. Jangan Lupa usai di install , ubah lagi booting device dari ethernet ke nand , tentunya cara ngubahnya lewat console.
    1. reboot router
    2. ketika muncul press any key tekan enter
    3. pilih o –> boot device
    4. pilih n –> booting lewat nand
    5. pilih x untuk keluar dan reboot lagi routerboardnya.
    6. Tunggu mikrotik booting seperti biasa melalui nand.
    7 selesai
